Life, Liberty, and The Pursuit of Education
The United States of America was founded on a system of values which focus on individual freedoms that allow for the opportunity of all to reach his or her full potential. In doing so, this country has allowed itself to become a major global power, a force of individuals all working together for the advancement of themselves, American society, and the entire world. To do so, the education of past and future generations is an absolute necessity. If the intelligence of young people is not continually advancing as time proceeds, then the future great minds of this nation would have less of an opportunity to reach his or her potential and society as a whole would have to pay the price. It is the new and upcoming technological advancements that allow for the combined effort of education to develop and grow. Certain innovations in technology have transformed schooling and unified educational programs throughout not only the United states, but also the entire world.
Ground breaking inventions such as calculators, computer mice, the internet, and the memory hardware and programs to run them have roots in the 1960's, and have changed the world of education forever. Youth from this generation, also known as Generation X, were the first to experience the beginning of a truly technology based educational era. Major events, such as the Space Race, have also contributed to national activism in the advancement of education in order for the United States to remain on top as a world power. Without the creative innovations and great minds of the 1960's, today's youth, referred to as Millennials, would be experiencing a completely different world inside and out of the classroom.
